Buy Hyacinth Macaw
Buy Hyacinth Macaws . The Hyacinth Macaw is the largest parrot species in the world. With their extraordinary size and vibrant colors, they are absolutely stunning animals. Their entire body is purple. To some people, they appear blue, to others, purple. They also seem to change color depending on the light. They have neon-yellow skin around their eyes and mouth, which truly contrasts with their dark feathers and black beak. Average lifespan: 40–60 years
Sex determination: Sex determination of these birds requires a DNA test because they do not exhibit sexual dimorphism and sex cannot be determined by appearance alone.
Origin: Southern Brazil, westernmost part of Bolivia and Santa Cruz
Trainability: Like most large macaws, hyacinth macaws aren’t suitable for everyone. They’re mischievous and playful and can become quite destructive if bored. We recommend purchasing a weaned, hand-fed baby. Birds naturally fledge in the nest and from their mothers, so hand-feeding a baby you plan to keep for life isn’t the best idea. This will only lead to more aggression later on when the bird becomes confused and frustrated at not being able to leave the „nest.“
Hyacinth macaws learn quickly and are easy to train with little effort. They can learn a few words and phrases, but they don’t speak very clearly. Hyacinth macaws enjoy showering and bathing often with their owners. Many also enjoy the outdoors, so it’s good to find a way for your hyacinth macaw to play outside safely. In general, we find hyacinth macaws to be friendly, outgoing birds. They are less prone to biting than other macaws, which surprises most people since their large beaks are so intimidating. In the avian world, they are known as „the gentle giants“ and usually just want to play and have fun. Hyacinth macaws are, in a word, AWESOME!
Volume:
Like all macaws, the Hyacinth Macaw can be quite loud. For this reason, we don’t recommend it (or other large macaws) for keeping in apartments. If you feel a quieter, smaller bird would be a better fit for you, there are still many species to choose from.
Prices:
Hyacinth macaws are expensive birds and not suitable for everyone. However, if you are interested in viewing or purchasing one of our baby hyacinth macaws, you are welcome to order one here on our website.
Minimum cage requirements: 32 x 48 x 70 inches with 1 to 1 1/4 inch bar spacing, 5 mm minimum bar thickness, and stainless steel cages are recommended.
